Visually, the external appearance is exceptional, and particularly internally is also in an exceptional condition/state of preservation and presentation. It really is an exceptional, exemplary example for it's brightnesss, cleanliness and lack of detracting faults.
'Stella Maris' is a companion volume following on from and to 'The Passenger' [issued (US), October 25th,2022 - six weeks before Stella Maris] - see my book ID rja1166424 for an example - and is not a 'sequel' and although (timewise) taking place prior to the other,it is not really a 'prequel' to 'The Passenger', certainly not carrying any sort of the same 'plotline' of the first. While each may lend an insight into the relationship of the brother and sister, they can be read in any order. The plot of both 'The Passenger' and 'Stella Maris' follows Bobby and Alicia Western, two siblings whose father helped develop the atomic bomb.
It was the final novel published before his death on June 13th,2023.
It consists primarily of dialogue with little narration, exploring the nature of the protagonist's delusions and other topics. The novel follows Alicia Western,a maths prodigy conflicted by her father's contributions to the American development of the atomic bomb. The entire novel is set in 1972 in Black River Falls,Wisconsin,at the titular Stella Maris, "a non-denominational facility and hospice for the care of psychiatric medical patients,as stated on page 3 (the only page that is not written in dialogue).
The novel consists of a series of conversations between Alicia and her psychiatrist,Dr. Cohen. The subjects include mathematics, quantum mechanics, music theory, and obscure philosophy.
